The Call

His love for me is what I needed when I didn’t know true love existed

He was there in the beginning, but I couldn’t see how much He gave up just for me.

His love is so pure, with no conditions

How could I not serve and worship Him?

He is my God Almighty, and I am thankful for Him

There will be no me without Him, so I will forever praise His name and share all He has done for me.

I was rebellious and only saw it my way until my encounter with Him. 

That’s when change began to take place

The change didn’t happen overnight. 

It took years for me to get on track

I ran from Him, knowing He had chosen me

How could you choose a broken girl like me? I asked as I continued to flee.

Don’t you know how sinful I am and all the horrible things I have done in the past?

I am sure there is someone out there who deserves you more than me

How can I accept your love when I don’t know how to reciprocate?

I know you are love because God is love, but I am not sure I can be the one who can help set people free when all I want to do is flee from this calling you have placed upon me.

You want me to be honest with the people you send my way, but Jesus, do you think they are ready for the girl who I once was?

I know you have forgiven me for my choices of the past and the ones I will probably make in the future

I know you are aware of all things, so you should know that I am afraid of letting you down, especially since I have had a hard time reconciling who I was in the past to the new creature I have become in you.

I know what I must do, Jesus; I will surrender to your will and share your goodness for all to hear.

I didn’t choose you, but you chose me, and that gives me the strength I need to move forward.

You are the love I needed, and now I have it.

My life is a testimony of your goodness, and I love you because you loved me first.
