Spoken Thoughts

Some thoughts are meant to be spoken

Passover

An order was given throughout the land,

Kill all the male children born to the Hebrew women,

A mother did the unthinkable to give her son a chance to live.

She placed her son in a basket and sent him down the Nile River, where he was eventually found by Pharaoh’s daughter, who raised him as her own and in the palace with the King.

As Moses grew into adulthood, he began to feel the pain of his people, and he took action when he saw one of them getting mistreated, which led to the death of one of the Egyptians.

His crime of killing the Egyptian was thrown in his face when he tried to stop two of his people from fighting, which led him to flee the palace in fear of the news reaching the King.

Moses found himself in a place called Midian for forty years,

God heard the cry of His people, and He knew it was time to bring them out of bondage and slavery.

He got Moses’ attention by using a burning bush, which would mark Moses’ first encounter with God.

Moses was to become the savior of God’s people,

His mission was to set God’s people free.

God sent Moses and his brother Aaron to Egypt to speak with the King on His behalf,

It was time to release God’s people, but the King wasn’t having any of that.

God sent many plagues to the land of Egypt, but the King refused to release the Israelites,

Pharaoh wouldn’t let God’s people go,

God had hardened the king’s heart, and a plague that would change the trajectory of things would soon come to the land.

The tenth plague came with a vengeance like no other,

The instructions were given to His people,

Sacrifice a spotless lamb and mark their doorpost with its blood and lintels,

So, when the Lord passes through the land of Egypt to destroy the firstborn children, your home will be passed over, for you have followed the instructions of the Lord.

The blood of the lamb saved God’s people from death as it kept the destroyer from entering their homes,

God’s people were saved from the plague, and their firstborn children were kept alive.

There was a loud wailing in the land of Egypt as the destroyer visited the unmarked bloodless doorways, and the Egyptians were awakened to the revelation that their firstborn children were dead,

The dire situation changed Pharaoh’s heart, and he let God’s people go.
