Spoken Thoughts

Some thoughts are meant to be spoken

Lifeline of Memories

by

in

Flowed through our heart as we carry you with us.

We held on to the memories as if they were our lifeline,

We couldn’t let go of the sound of your laughter or the smile on your face.

We wish to experience those moments again, but now they are only memories.

Who knew your days with us were coming to an end?

We thought we had more time, but our time was up,

So now we are left holding on tightly to the memories of you, which bring some tears but mostly delight.

You left an impression on our hearts that we will forever cherish,

Never has there been a dull moment with you.

You were the sunlight on a cloudy day,

You were our umbrella on a rainy day,

You put the fun in our all days.

Holding on tightly to those memories helps us move forward, knowing you would want us to keep going.

We do so with a smile because we are blessed to have made these beautiful memories with you.

Letting go of a person you loved after loss can be difficult at times, but I have learned that the memories can bring comfort as you move on. Grief has its own working timeframe, but you don’t have to allow it to derail or take control of your life.

It’s possible to carry the memories with you and continue living. It’s a process, but moving on can be done. This new normal will take time, but the memories will serve as a reminder that they were here and loved.

Embrace the memories. Keep them close in your heart and move forward knowing that your loved one would want you to keep moving forward.
