Why Not You?

Was the response I received from God

Confusion sat heavily upon my chest as I asked,

Why me?

Why must I carry this cross placed on me, Jesus?

Did you know that I was strong enough to carry the weight of loss, pain, and suffering?

Because I didn’t know.

I cried out to you for so long, asking,

Why me?

I didn’t think it was fair

I didn’t choose this life and the baggage that came with it.

I was only a child who needed a protector, so I thought, but as I looked back at my childhood

All those moments led me to the person I am today.

Jesus, you knew I was strong enough to endure, and it would take me a while to realize that.

You were patient with me as I came to that conclusion.

I can confidently say those trials and tribulations helped me let go of the why me questions and instead ask,

Why not me?
