Some thoughts are meant to be spoken

When Writing from the Heart

Is it a blessing or a curse?

You have words begging to be bled out on paper, yet you feel no one would understand.

You have had your share of trials and tribulations, yet will anyone comprehend how much you endured?

You only want to help others who may have experienced the same thing as you, but are you ultimately helping them?

You want to share every detail on how you overcame, but will they use it as ammunition against you?

You want to offer encouragement where there only seems to be darkness, but will they step into the light?

You may ask yourself many questions as you wonder if it is a blessing or a curse that you love so much, and with your words, your only intention is to show that there is hope.

I have learned from experience that I can be a blessing and a curse when I show vulnerability. Some individuals will use your vulnerabilities against you as a sign of weakness. They will play on every insecurity you have written about and use it to their advantage, and I believe that’s the curse of writing from the heart.

However, writing from the heart can also be a blessing when you have written something that helped an individual and gave them the courage to keep moving forward. The blessing also comes when you know that the words you shared resonated with at least one person, as they reach out to you, letting you know how your words helped them make a decision where they felt like they were at the end of the road. Your words showed them another beneficial way.

So I advise you to keep writing from your heart if you choose to. We all have different writing styles and readers, so keep showing up. Let those words pour from your heart like a fresh stream of water, rejuvenating all who need a drink, for the blessings outweigh the curses.
