Finding the Light in Darkness: A Faith Journey with Jesus

Finding the light in darkness through faith in Jesus

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

There were seasons in my life when darkness felt familiar—almost comforting. Even in those moments, Jesus was there, though I couldn’t recognize His presence. My own desires consumed me—my own plans and what I believed I needed at the time.

I felt broken and defeated, worn down by life and my own choices. There seemed to be no light to guide me forward. I convinced myself I was a lost soul who didn’t need saving, believing I could handle everything on my own. Looking back now, I see how wrong I was.

The darkness didn’t force its way into my life—I let it in. I can’t blame the darkness for blinding me to the truth when I embraced it without hesitation. At every turn, it met me, and I didn’t have the strength to fight it. I embraced it, oblivious to the extent of my entanglement. What I thought was survival was actually bondage.

Yet even then, Jesus never left.

In time—longer than I care to admit—I caught a glimpse of the Light. It wasn’t dramatic or overwhelming. It was gentle, steady, and undeniable. That moment marked the beginning of my spiritual growth. It taught me that faith during hard seasons isn’t about being perfect; it’s about surrendering.

If you are walking through a hard season right now, know this: Jesus is closer than you think. Even when darkness surrounds you, hope in Jesus remains. Sometimes, all it takes is a single glimpse of the Light to remind us that we are never walking alone.

If you’re in a season of darkness, I encourage you to pause and pray—asking Jesus to reveal His light to you. And if this post speaks to your heart, share it with someone who may need a reminder that hope is still alive.
