Walking Daily in Your New Identity in Christ
For so long, many of us weren’t aware of who we are in Christ. Some of us have always sought the approval of man because we did not know who God had created us to be. If only we had known then what we know now, our lives would have been different.
We can’t change the past, but we can learn from past mistakes. The Word of God states in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT): “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
We are free from our past lives. We no longer need to please others or accept what doesn’t please God. There is no longer a need for us to listen to the lies of the enemy.
We are more than our circumstances and life mistakes. Jesus has shown many of us our true identity in Him. Many people say they feel alive for the first time when they understand who they are in Christ. They embrace their new identity.
There’s this feeling of completion when you finally realize who you are. I know for me there was something missing in my life. Nothing could fill the void. No amount of material things, wealth, new cars, homes, or relationships filled that void. It was only when I learned who I was in Christ that the void was no longer there.
Before I found my true identity, I was an imposter. I tried to fit in with every crowd that came my way. I felt like a lost sheep, following a fake shepherd. I didn’t know the one who gave His life for me. I also didn’t understand my worth in Him.
Many people don’t know your story or mine, and that’s fine. When you share your story, God gets the glory. Your identity changes for the better when you see you’re more than your past mistakes. Remember, you are royalty. God has adopted us into His family.
For the Word tells us in Romans 8:15 (NLT): “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, ‘Abba, Father.’
So let us walk in the freedom of the new creation whose identity is in Christ Jesus.
I pray this word today gives you clarity on who you belong to.
To sum it up, our identity in Christ is a new spiritual identity. Believers in Jesus gain this through faith. It replaces the old self and builds a relationship with God.
The idea emphasizes that God created us, as believers, in a distinct way. We are part of His family and have a new spiritual nature.
I hope you welcome your new identity in Christ. Go out and spread God’s light everywhere.
