The Shadows

By

When God Calls You Out of Hiding and Into the Light

A woman walks out of a dark forest into bright light, symbolizing faith, courage, and stepping into her purpose.

I stood in the shadows for a long time,

hiding my light from the world.

I questioned why anyone would want to hear my thoughts or support my work.

I tried stepping forward once before,

but when support didn’t come the way I expected,

I retreated back into the darkness,

choosing invisibility over disappointment.

I told myself it was safer there.

Yet, something within me kept stirring,

gently pulling at my spirit,

reminding me it was time to step into the light.

It was time for my voice to be heard.

Worrying about who would support me

was no longer my concern.

I was reminded that my assignment

was not about approval

but obedience.

I was called to give the voiceless a voice,

to speak for those who could not,

to trust that the people meant to walk with me

would find me in due time.

Was I ready?

That was the battle within.

I knew I was built for this.

I knew I was destined for it.

But fear lingered because of what had happened before.

Still, I could not let fear keep me hidden any longer.

As I prepared to step out of the shadows,

I felt the urgency grow.

There were people waiting to hear my words.

It was time to lace up my boots.

The journey ahead was calling.

The shadows could no longer contain me

or the ideas pouring from my mind.

The words came quickly, relentlessly,

demanding to be released.

My words had a mission:

to pull others out of darkness,

to shine light where hope had been lost.

I knew then it was time to let go of fear

and step fully into the light.

Because this was never about me.

It was always about the people

I was destined to help.
