When the past calls your name, faith reminds you why you can’t return
At times, it calls to me with force and urgency; other times, it whispers quietly, gently inviting me back to what once felt familiar.
There are moments when I feel tempted to step across that line—to return to a life that appears simple and carefree, a life that once felt normal to me.
But I know the truth now.
Once my eyes were opened, I could no longer find comfort in what was never meant to sustain me. I refused to be soothed by illusions or settle for what I now understand were lies.
When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, everything changed. I made a conscious decision to turn away from my own desires and surrender to His will for my life.
Letting go of the things that once brought me pain was not easy. I had grown used to living in that space. What was broken had somehow become familiar, and I accepted it as normal.
The world offered me a place without accountability—where sin felt light and remorse was optional—but that way of living was quietly destroying me from within.
Now, as I draw closer to what God has called me to do, I notice the past trying to return. It comes knocking, hoping I will open the door.
But I know something I didn’t know before:
Nothing grows there.
So I make a choice—again and again.
I choose life—a life that is full, abundant, and eternal, a life rooted in Christ.
A life with Jesus.
And because of that, there is no turning back.
