Trusting God’s Plan When You Can’t See Where the Journey Is Leading.

There are seasons in life when walking by faith is easier said than done.

We can say that we trust God. We can believe that He has a plan. We can remind ourselves that His ways are higher than our ways. But what happens when the journey doesn’t look anything like we thought it would?

What happens when you prayed for one thing, but God leads you in a completely different direction?

What happens when you can’t see where you are going?

That is when faith becomes more than words.

We walk by faith, not by sight—even when we don’t understand the journey.

Our relationship with Jesus gives us the opportunity to trust Him even when we don’t have all the answers. We may not understand what He is doing, but we can trust who He is.

God’s plans for us are greater than anything we could imagine or conceive. Sometimes, however, the greatness of His plan is hidden behind a season we never would have chosen for ourselves.

The journey may not be going the way you thought it would.

But perhaps it is going exactly the way God knew it needed to go.

When God Changes the Route

Sometimes we become discouraged because we had a picture in our minds of what our lives would look like by now.

We thought we would be further along.

We thought the relationship would look different.

We thought the opportunity would have already happened.

We thought the door would have opened.

We thought the prayer would have been answered by now.

But God has never promised that our journey would follow the timeline we created.

Walking by faith means trusting God when the route changes.

It means believing that a closed door does not mean God has abandoned you. It means understanding that a delay does not mean He has forgotten you. It means recognizing that sometimes God is doing something beneath the surface that you cannot see yet.

And that can be difficult.

Walking by faith can be hard at times.

There will be moments when you feel tired. Moments when you question what God is doing. Moments when you wonder if the promise will ever come to pass.

But when those moments come, look back.

Remember What God Has Already Done

One of the greatest ways to strengthen your faith for a new chapter is to remember what God brought you through in the last one.

Think about the things you once prayed about that God answered.

Think about the doors He opened.

Think about the doors He closed that you later realized needed to stay closed.

Think about the moments you thought you wouldn’t make it through—and yet, here you are.

You are still standing.

You are still here.

You are still becoming.

You are still walking.

Your history with God is evidence that you can trust Him with your future.

God may not do it the same way He did it last time.

And that is something we have to learn to accept.

Just because God provided one way before does not mean He has to provide the same way again. Just because He answered one prayer in a particular manner does not mean the next answer will look the same.

The method may change, but God does not.

His character has not changed.

His faithfulness has not changed.

His love has not changed.

His ability to work on your behalf has not changed.

Can You Trust What You Cannot See?

Maybe you are currently standing in a chapter you don’t understand.

Maybe you are waiting.

Maybe you are rebuilding.

Maybe you are starting over.

Maybe you are watching something unfold differently than you imagined.

Whatever your situation may be, I want to encourage you not to allow what you see to become greater than what you know about God.

You may not see the answer yet.

You may not see the way out.

You may not see how everything will come together.

But Jesus is still working.

Even in the silence.

Even in the waiting.

Even in the uncertainty.

Even when you cannot see it.

Faith does not require you to understand everything.

Faith requires you to trust the One who does.

So today, take a moment and remember.

Remember where you have been.

Remember what God has already brought you through.

Remember the prayers He answered.

Remember the strength He gave you when you didn’t think you had any left.

And then take another step.

You don’t have to see the entire journey.

You just have to trust God with the step in front of you.

The journey may not be going the way you thought it would, but that doesn’t mean God isn’t leading you.

He is still working.

He is still faithful.

He is still God.

And if He brought you through before, you can trust Him to carry you through this new chapter too.

So I’ll leave you with this question:

Do you have faith that Jesus is still working—even when it seems like He isn’t?

Keep walking.

Keep trusting.

Keep believing.

Walk by faith, not by sight.
