Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean God isn’t working. Learning to remain faithful, obedient, and trusting even when the results haven’t come.
At times, we can get so caught up looking at what’s happening in other people’s lives that we lose sight of what God is doing in our own. We see what others are accomplishing, what is growing, what is selling, and what seems to be falling into place for them. Before we know it, we’re asking God, “Father, why isn’t this happening for me?”
You gave me these ideas. You placed these visions in my heart. You gave me the desire to write books, design shirts, create things, and use my gifts to glorify You. So why aren’t these things coming together? Why aren’t the books selling? Why aren’t the shirts moving? Why aren’t the doors opening the way I thought they would?
I’ve been there. I’ve asked God those very questions on more than one occasion.
God has given me ideas to write books, create apparel, and develop things that I believe are connected to the gifts and purpose He has placed within me. Yet, sometimes, I look at what I’m doing and wonder when everything will finally come together.
Just this morning, I was having a conversation with a sister in Christ about this very thing. And what stood out to me was that I wasn’t the only one who had been feeling this way. She had been experiencing some of the same frustrations.
It’s a reminder that sometimes we can look at what God has placed in our hearts and wonder whether we’re doing something wrong simply because we aren’t seeing the results we expected.
But here’s something we have to remember: We cannot measure God’s faithfulness by what we see happening around us.
During that conversation, something God had been reminding me of came back to mind:
“Do not despise small beginnings.”
We see other people experiencing tremendous growth. We see ministries expanding, businesses flourishing, books reaching readers, and people seemingly walking in everything they’ve prayed for. But what we don’t always see is the process that brought them to that place.
We don’t know what they had to overcome. We don’t know the prayers they prayed behind closed doors, the sacrifices they made, the disappointments they endured, or the seasons when nothing seemed to be moving.
And just as we don’t know their entire journey, they don’t know ours.
Their timing and our timing are two different things.
This journey is a process. It requires us to show up, remain consistent, and continue walking in obedience even when the results aren’t immediately visible.
Sometimes, the hardest part isn’t creating what God placed in our hearts. It’s continuing to believe in what He gave us when we aren’t seeing the fruit of our labor.
We have to stop allowing what someone else is doing to make us question what God told us to do.
Maybe the book isn’t selling right now. Maybe the business isn’t growing as quickly as you hoped. Maybe the ministry hasn’t reached the people you envisioned. Maybe the opportunity you prayed for hasn’t opened.
But what if this season isn’t just about the outcome?
What if God is teaching us to trust Him throughout the process?
We often want the promise without the process. We want the harvest without having to endure the planting season. We want things to happen according to our expectations, but God doesn’t always operate according to our timelines.
And let’s be honest, long-suffering isn’t always something we want to experience. It’s one of the fruits of the Spirit, but that doesn’t mean the experience is always comfortable.
Lately, God has been giving me revelations about different things I’ve been experiencing and navigating. Some of these lessons are personal, and some are things I believe can help someone else along the way. That’s why you’ll probably see some of these conversations and reflections making their way onto this blog.
Because that’s what Walking by Faith with Char is about.
It’s not about pretending that I have everything figured out. It’s not about making it seem like every day is perfect or that I never struggle with what God is doing.
It’s about walking by faith, even on the days when I don’t understand.
There are days when God tells me to stop something, and I have to stop. There are days when He tells me to walk away, and I have to walk away. There are days when I want an explanation, but all I have is His instruction.
And even when I don’t understand, I have to choose obedience.
Sometimes my response has to be:
“God, I don’t understand what You’re doing. I don’t know why things are happening this way, and I don’t know what the outcome will be. But I trust You. If You tell me to move, I’ll move. If You tell me to walk away, I’ll walk away. I’m choosing to put my faith and trust in You even when I cannot see what’s ahead.”
That’s what walking by faith looks like.
So today, I want to encourage someone who may be sitting with an idea God placed in their heart. Maybe He told you to write the book, start the business, design the T-shirt, create the ministry, or step into something completely unfamiliar.
Do it.
Don’t allow the lack of immediate results to make you question the instruction.
It may not sell today. It may not reach the thousands of people you imagined. It may not look like what you thought it would look like when you first started.
But don’t let that discourage you from being obedient.
I don’t know everything God is doing behind the scenes, and I certainly don’t have all the answers. But I am learning that my responsibility is to trust Him, remain faithful, and continue doing what He has placed in my hands.
If He wants to reveal the reason behind a particular season, He will do so in His time.
Until then, we have to keep the faith.
Remember, don’t despise small beginnings. Don’t compare your journey to someone else’s, and don’t mistake a slow season for a forgotten promise.
God is not asking you to run someone else’s race. He’s asking you to remain faithful to the assignment He has given you.
Keep showing up. Keep creating. Keep planting. Keep believing.
And most importantly, keep walking by faith.
Have a blessed day!
