A heart-check on faith, motives, and what it truly means to follow Jesus beyond blessings.
In our walk with God, it’s easy to become focused on what we’re believing Him for—answered prayers, open doors, and long-awaited promises. We pray, we fast, and we trust, often expecting to see His hand move in specific ways. But there comes a moment when our faith is tested beyond what we receive… and brought back to the core of why we follow Him in the first place.
Take a moment and really sit with this:
Why are you following God?
Is it for material things—a house, a car, financial overflow?
Is it for a relationship—a husband, a wife, a family?
Or is it because you truly love Him and desire eternity with Him?
Your reason matters more than you think.
As I was listening to a sermon, a question dropped in my spirit—I believe God was asking me this directly:
“Why are they following Me?”
It made me reflect deeply—not just about others, but about myself.
If God never gave me anything else…
Would I still pray?
Would I still fast?
Would I still go out and make disciples?
Would I still love Him the same?
Would they still follow Me if I did nothing else for them?
Some people follow God as long as things are going well.
But the moment life gets hard, they begin to drift… pause… or walk away.
Others make a decision in their hearts:
“No matter what—I’m staying with Jesus.”
That is the kind of faith God is calling us into.
📖 “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” — Luke 9:23
Following God was never meant to be conditional.
It’s not about what He gives—
it’s about who He is.
God is still good… even when life doesn’t feel good.
He is still faithful… even when things don’t make sense.
So today, ask yourself:
If your situation never changes…
If your financial circumstances stay the same…
If the relationship you’ve been praying for never comes…
If the promise feels delayed…
Will you still trust Him?
Will you still follow Him?
What if the trials you’ve faced since childhood don’t suddenly disappear?
Will you continue to seek Him for guidance?
What if the promise hasn’t come to pass yet—
will you still stand on His Word and believe?
📖 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
This is where real faith is revealed.
Not when everything is going right—
but when everything requires you to trust God anyway.
If you’re following God because you love Him—be encouraged.
That kind of faith is powerful and unshakable.
But if you’re unsure… take time to examine your heart.
Why did you choose this path?
And why are you considering walking away from it?
The truth is, you must make a decision:
📖 “Choose you this day whom ye will serve…” — Joshua 24:15
Who are you serving—and why?
Because no matter what is happening in your life or in the world, one thing remains true:
God is good.
Not because of what He does…
but because of who He is.
Because at the end of it all, this journey isn’t about what you can get from God…
It’s about walking with Him—no matter what.
