Changing the Narrative About Fathers

Honoring the Men Who Show Up, Sacrifice, and Lead with Love

For so long, we have heard and read so many negative things about fathers that it often paints them all as the bad guys. While there are certainly fathers who have fallen short of their responsibilities, that should never define every father.

There are men quietly taking care of their responsibilities every single day behind the scenes, and many of them never receive the recognition they deserve. Yes, we can say, “That’s their job,” but have you noticed that during Mother’s Day, that same negativity is rarely spoken? Instead, mothers are celebrated and honored for all they do. I believe it’s time we stop operating with double standards and begin honoring those who step up to the plate, whether it’s expected of them or not.

On this Father’s Day, I want to recognize and thank all the fathers who are active in their children’s lives—the fathers who go above and beyond, not simply because it’s their responsibility, but because they understand that God has entrusted them with an important role. Their presence, guidance, sacrifice, and love matter more than they may ever realize.

I also want to thank the men who step in to help raise children who are not biologically their own—the men who choose to love, mentor, guide, and support children they are under no obligation to care for. Their willingness to show up and make a difference in a child’s life deserves to be recognized and appreciated.

To every man who serves as a father or father figure, I salute you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the role you play. I pray for God’s blessings upon you. I pray He continues to equip you with the wisdom, strength, patience, and tools needed to carry such an important responsibility.

I also hope we, as women, continue to speak life into the men who are active fathers and father figures in our children’s lives. Men carry a lot, yet so much of what they do often goes unnoticed. Encouragement costs us nothing, but it can mean everything to someone carrying the weight of responsibility.

It’s time we change the narrative. It’s time we honor the fathers who show up, stay present, and continue to pour into the lives of their children. They deserve to be seen, appreciated, and celebrated—not just on Father’s Day, but throughout the year.
