When You Feel Like Giving Up, Keep Going

By

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Choosing faith over feelings and purpose over the desire to quit.

Today is one of those days when I want to bury my head under the covers and hide from the world for a while. Maybe you’ve had days like that, too: days when the weight of responsibilities, disappointments, unanswered prayers, and unexpected challenges feels overwhelming; days when moving forward seems harder than standing still.

The truth is, hiding may feel comforting for a moment, but it doesn’t solve anything. The challenges will still be there when we emerge from beneath the covers. The assignments God has placed in our hands will still need our attention. The purpose He has called us to will still be waiting for us.

As I reflected on how I was feeling today, I realized something important: my purpose is too great for me to quit. The calling God has placed on my life is bigger than my temporary feelings. While my emotions are real and valid, they cannot be allowed to become the steering wheel of my life.

I believe many times when we are closest to stepping into a new season, we encounter the greatest opposition. It can seem as though everything begins to go wrong at once. Doors appear to close. Obstacles arise unexpectedly. Discouragement creeps in. Doubt whispers that maybe we should stop trying.

But what if that opposition is not a sign to quit?

What if it is evidence that we are moving in the right direction?

The enemy would love nothing more than for us to become discouraged and abandon the very thing God has called us to do. He knows that if we keep trusting God and moving forward, there is growth, healing, purpose, and breakthrough on the other side.

One thing life has taught me is that I am not a quitter. Have I been knocked down? Absolutely. Have I experienced setbacks, heartbreak, disappointment, and seasons that tested my faith? Yes. But through it all, God has continued to sustain me.

Each setback became a lesson.

Each trial strengthened my faith.

Each difficult season revealed God’s faithfulness in a deeper way.

The same God who carried me through yesterday is carrying me through today.

Perhaps you are reading this while facing your own difficult season. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you’re frustrated. Maybe you’re questioning whether you have what it takes to keep going.

Let me remind you of something: you are stronger than you think.

Not because of your own strength, but because God’s strength is made perfect in weakness. When we feel like we have nothing left to give, God provides the grace we need for that moment. He doesn’t always give us strength for the entire journey at once, but He faithfully provides enough strength for the next step.

Sometimes faith looks less like running and more like taking one small step forward.

Sometimes victory looks like simply refusing to quit.

Sometimes courage is getting out of bed when you don’t feel like it and trusting God one more day.

God is doing a new thing in your life, even if you cannot fully see it yet. Seeds planted in faith take time to grow. Prayers prayed in faith are not forgotten. Promises given by God do not expire.

Hold on to what God has spoken over your life.

Hold on when the journey feels difficult.

Hold on when progress seems slow.

Hold on when discouragement tries to convince you that nothing is changing.

Growth requires movement. Faith requires perseverance. And breakthrough often comes after we have endured seasons that made us want to quit.

Today, I am choosing to keep moving forward. Not because everything is perfect, not because I have all the answers, but because I trust the One who is leading me.

And if you are struggling today, I encourage you to do the same.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep trusting.

Keep moving.

Your setback is not the end of your story. God is still writing your next chapter.
